How to book a restaurant table without calling
Good news: most restaurants can now be booked without calling. Less good news: the small places —often the ones you most want— frequently take bookings by phone only. Here's both sides.
Book online, when the place allows it
Before dialling anything, try these —they cover most cases:
- Search the restaurant on Google. If booking is enabled, a "Reserve a table" button shows right on the listing, without leaving the search.
- OpenTable / TheFork. Thousands of restaurants take bookings here, often with offers. Search, pick a time, done.
- The restaurant's own website. More and more use booking systems where you pick a date and time and get a confirmation by email or SMS.
- Instagram or WhatsApp. Many small places handle bookings by direct message; the number is usually in the bio.
That clears most dinners without saying a word on the phone.
When the place only books by phone
Then there's the tiny neighbourhood spot, the buzzy new place, the family restaurant with no website. No button: you call, or you miss out. That's the awkward gap.
For those, MIRA can make the call for you. You tell it the restaurant, day, time and party size, and it handles the call —books it, and tells you whether there's a table or suggests alternatives. You never have to pick up the phone.

A couple of tips
- Book ahead. Weekends and popular places fill up days in advance.
- Confirm if asked. Some send an SMS to confirm; ignore it and they may release the table.
- Cancel if your plans change. It's good manners and keeps you in their good books.
FAQ
Can I book any restaurant without calling? Most, yes —via Google, OpenTable/TheFork, the website or WhatsApp. The small phone-only places are the exception… unless someone (or MIRA) makes the call for you.
Is booking through these apps free? Yes, booking is free for diners, and often comes with a discount.
What if the restaurant doesn't reply on WhatsApp? It happens. If you need to lock in the table, a call is still the most reliable —and that's one MIRA can make for you.
